Ramadan

Ramadan is the ninth and holiest month of the Islamic calendar, a period of fasting, prayer, and reflection where Muslims worldwide abstain from food, drink, and immoral acts from dawn to sunset. It commemorates the revelation of the Quran. In 2026, Ramadan begins on the evening of February 17 and concludes around March 18–19 with the Eid al-Fitr celebration.

Key aspects of Ramadan include:

Fasting (Sawm): A mandatory pillar of Islam for healthy, adult Muslims, meant to foster self-discipline, gratitude, and empathy for the less fortunate.

Daily Routine: The fast begins before dawn with a meal called suhur and is broken at sunset with the iftar meal.

Spiritual Growth: Muslims increase their devotion through extra, nightly prayers (Tarawih), reading the Quran, and acts of charity.

Significance: The month is considered a time to purify the soul, seek forgiveness, and increase good deeds.

Cultural Practices: Many communities decorate streets and homes with lanterns, with special, communal, or family-focused gatherings for iftar.

May Allah reward our efforts as we seek His guidance, abundance, and protection this month and in every month.

🤲🏽 ameen
